We’ve had promises of coal ash regulation. We’ve had debates about coal ash legislation. We’ve had lawsuits. We’ve had more coal ash spills — which got a fraction of the media coverage. We’ve had public hearings. Nearly half a million people commented on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed (yet still un-enacted) regulations.

What most of us haven’t had are memories of Kingston, T.N., before, during and after the massive Tennessee Valley Authority coal ash spill. But, thanks to the wonder of the Internet, you can get a pretty good feel for what life was like four years ago before the coal ash spill, the devastation that was caused by the diaster and what life is like now.
